How soft washing actually works

Soft washing cleans chemically at low pressure rather than mechanically at high pressure. The cleaning solution does the work on organic growth and film, and the rinse simply carries it away. Nothing is being blasted off, which is why it is safe on materials that pressure would damage.

What high pressure does to stucco and hardie

Pressure forces water behind the cladding and into the substrate. The wall looks fine that afternoon. Months later it shows as staining, blistering, or trapped moisture problems, and by then nobody connects it to the wash. This is the single most common avoidable exterior cleaning mistake.

Flatwork is the exception

Driveways, patios and walkways are hard surfaces that genuinely take pressure, and they are cleaned that way at $0.20 per square foot. The distinction is surface type, not preference, which is why the two services are priced differently.

What it will and will not fix

Soft washing removes organic growth, dust film and general weathering at $0.18 per square foot. It does not repair failed paint, fix underlying moisture problems, or restore chalked and oxidised surfaces to new. Anyone promising that is overselling.
