The Treasure Valley is one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, and new homes are going up all over Meridian, Kuna, and Star. If you just built or bought new, you've probably noticed your "brand-new" windows are anything but clear. That's normal — and it needs a specific kind of cleaning.

Why new construction windows are so dirty

During a build, your glass takes a beating from the trades. New-construction windows commonly come with:

  • Stucco and mortar splatter — little cement flecks bonded to the glass.
  • Paint and primer overspray.
  • Silicone, caulk, and adhesive from installation.
  • Manufacturer labels and sticker residue.
  • A fine grit film from drywall dust, sawdust, and grading.

None of that comes off with Windex. And here's the important part: scraping it wrong will scratch the glass permanently.

⚠️ Heads-up: some new windows have a tempered or coated surface that scratches more easily. Construction debris should be removed with the right blade angle, plenty of lubrication, and technique — which is exactly why post-construction cleaning is a specialty, not a DIY squeegee job.

How new-construction window cleaning is different

A standard clean removes dust and fingerprints. A post-construction clean is a detail job: carefully scraping off bonded debris, removing labels and silicone, cleaning the frames and tracks packed with construction dust, and then finishing the glass with our pure deionized-water RainShield clean so it dries perfectly clear. It takes longer and requires more care, so it's priced accordingly.

When to book it

  1. Wait until interior work and landscaping are done. There's no point cleaning windows while trades are still coming and going, or before the yard is graded and dust is flying.
  2. Then book the post-construction clean to get the glass truly move-in ready.
  3. Consider going quarterly after. In booming areas, your neighbors' construction keeps kicking dust onto your windows for months. A quarterly membership keeps new glass looking new — here's how often to clean windows in Idaho.

What it costs

Post-construction window cleaning costs more than a regular clean because of the extra labor and care involved. Like all our pricing, it's based on your number of panes — and our online quote builder has a New Construction option built right in, so you get an accurate price in about 60 seconds. (For a general breakdown, see our Treasure Valley window cleaning cost guide.)
