It comes from Pioneer Irrigation District and Nampa & Meridian Irrigation District, which delivers untreated surface water to the sprinklers on a separate line, and it is compounded by the City of Nampa's groundwater — all of it pumped from the city's own wells, and reported as hard as about seven grains per gallon. Every irrigation cycle that reaches a window deposits a little silt and a little dissolved mineral, and every evaporation concentrates what is already there. Over a season it bonds; past that it begins to etch the glass itself. This is why an ordinary wash looks fine on the day and hazy again within weeks — the deposit was never removed, only wetted. Deionized water dissolves it rather than redistributing it.

From the first disking in spring through the onion and sugar-beet lift in the fall, there are weeks at a time when the air carries a genuine load of field silt, and it does not settle politely — it arrives on a west wind and it arrives while your irrigation is still cycling. Cold-Season Cleaning

Winter changes the soiling rather than stopping the work. It is a good time to have glass done, because nothing new is being deposited and the result holds until spring start-up. What we will not do is pretend a cleaning fixes condensation: fog on the inside is a humidity problem, and fog between the panes is a failed seal.
