Why The Islands Windows Spot

Two separate water supplies reach a Nampa window and both of them are hard. The first is the City of Nampa's groundwater — all of it pumped from the city's own wells, and reported as hard as about seven grains per gallon. The second, and the one that actually does the damage, is Pioneer Irrigation District and Nampa & Meridian Irrigation District — untreated surface water delivered to the sprinklers, carrying suspended silt and dissolved calcium and magnesium straight off the canal. When a head clips a pane the water sheets, evaporates fast in the valley's dry air, and leaves the silt as a gritty film and the mineral as a bonded ring. Soap moves the first around and does nothing to the second. We run 100% deionized water instead — stripped of its own minerals, it pulls the deposit into solution and dries leaving nothing behind to catch the next round.

Deposit Is Cumulative, and This Glass Has History

Two decades of sprinkler cycles have left most The Islands panes with a mineral history rather than mineral dirt, and only one of those comes off. A deposit that has bonded but not yet etched responds to a dedicated dissolver and mechanical work; glass that has etched has lost surface and no product restores it. We check before quoting rather than after, and where a pane is gone we say so.

Harvest Dust Is the Nampa Variable

Nampa sits in the middle of working Canyon County farm ground, and that is the difference between glass here and glass in Boise. Field dust is not an occasional nuisance; it is a seasonal certainty, and it arrives while the irrigation is still running. Every city in the valley gets dust. Nampa gets harvest. From the first disking in spring through the onion and sugar-beet lift in the fall, there are weeks at a time when the air carries a genuine load of field silt, and it does not settle politely — it arrives on a west wind and it arrives while your irrigation is still cycling. Dust landing on dry glass rinses off. Dust landing on a pane still damp from a sprinkler bonds into the mineral film and stops being dust at all. That is why a Nampa window cleaned in August can look untouched by the end of September, and it is an argument for timing the work to the harvest calendar rather than the human one. We would rather clean your windows in late October, after the lift, than in early September and watch it undo itself.

How Often The Islands Actually Needs It

Twice a year suits most homes here — once after the spring dust and pollen, once at the end of the irrigation season when the mineral load is highest. Homes with glass directly in a sprinkler pattern want the more frequent end of that until the heads get adjusted. Homes whose glass is shielded can often go annually. We are not going to sell you a quarterly plan you do not need.

Sprinkler Aim Is Half the Answer

Mineral that never lands is mineral we never have to remove, and a customer whose windows stay clean longer calls us back. Where glass sits in an unavoidable spray pattern a sacrificial sealant is worth discussing, and we will be straight that it wears off rather than lasting forever.

The Honest Limits

Some jobs are not ours. Anything above three stories needs a rope-access specialist. Failed seals, broken glass and rotten frames need a glazier, not a cleaner. Etched glass needs replacing. We would rather point you at the right trade than take the booking and under-deliver.
