Two kinds of dust, two behaviours

Field dust is abrasive mineral grit and must never be wiped off dry, or it scratches. Construction dust is alkaline and sets slightly when wet, so rinsing smears it into a haze. Newly planted landscaping means gutters fill slowly, so the interval can genuinely be longer than in older parts of the valley. It does not mean never. Construction debris and wind-blown grit still collect, and a first-winter roof can shed more material than owners expect.
