Winter damp keeps north-facing siding from drying for weeks at a time, which is what organic growth needs. In Eagle Hills, decades of mature tree canopy around the golf course means the north side of an older ranch or split-level rarely gets direct sun even in summer, so winter just deepens a problem that never fully goes away. Along the river, fog off the Boise River corridor adds the same effect to newer homes that otherwise wouldn't have it. If the north wall looked green last March, addressing it before spring rather than after is both easier and cheaper, since a thin film comes off far more easily than an established growth.
Exterior water work below freezing is not offered. Water freezes in the tracks and on the pane, sills can be damaged, and ladder work on ice is a genuine safety problem, and it's a bigger factor on Eagle's foothills estates where standing-seam metal or tile roofing is common. Those surfaces are not something to walk even when dry, let alone iced over, so a clogged gutter or a light strand up there waits for a real thaw rather than a marginal afternoon.
