A Foothills East array is a shallow piece of glass with nothing above it, collecting everything. It sits in Boise east of Broadway, just south of State in 83712, and it is platted 1973–1980 across 9 phases, back when this was farm ground with a few houses on it. It covers about 160 acres, large enough that we route it as its own stop.

A solar panel is a piece of glass mounted at a shallow angle with nothing above it, which makes it the best dust collector on the property. Here it catches decomposed granite off the foothills, plus the winter inversion that traps particulate at ground level for weeks at a time, and then — the part people do not expect — it catches irrigation overspray. Untreated water on a warm panel evaporates fast and leaves exactly the bonded mineral film it leaves on windows, except here it sits directly in the light path. The panels at the low edge of the array, where runoff concentrates, are usually worst. With 9 phases recorded, the older streets show it further along than the newest ones, and we price accordingly.
Panels get the same pure-water method as glass, for a better reason: soap residue on a panel is a soiling magnet, so a soaped panel gets dirty faster than one never cleaned. Deionized water dissolves the mineral and dries clean. We never use abrasives or anything that could mar the anti-reflective coating, we clean from the ground with poles wherever the pitch allows, and we do not walk on panels — micro-cracking from foot traffic is invisible and permanent. We do not touch wiring or inverters. Being this close to State means the road-facing elevation is always the one that needs the most attention.
Boise glass carries something the rest of the valley does not: foothills grit. Decomposed granite off the slope is sharp and fine, it travels on the afternoon downslope wind, and in winter the valley inversion holds everything else down at ground level with it. That is the honest reason we push timing as hard as we push method: doing this work at the right point in the Boise season is worth more than doing it more often at the wrong one. If you are on N Morningside Way or one of the streets off it, we are likely already working nearby.
We clean the glass. We do not touch wiring, inverters or mounting hardware, we never walk on panels, and we will decline an array we cannot reach safely. Saying this plainly costs us the occasional booking and saves everybody the version where you find out on the day.
