Because per-foot pricing punishes somebody. Ninety feet of straight single-story eave and ninety feet chopped into gable sections are completely different jobs, and a phone rate has to overcharge one to cover the other. Looking at the actual house costs us a few minutes and gets you a firm number instead of an estimate that grows on install day.
