The Sprinklers Are Doing This, Not the Weather

The single thing that separates a Hacienda window from the same window in a city without pressurized irrigation is what comes out of the sprinkler. Settlers Irrigation District supplies it here, and what it delivers is untreated canal water — silt in suspension, calcium and magnesium in solution. On glass, the water sheets, evaporates fast in the valley's dry air, and leaves both behind. The silt you can feel. The mineral you cannot, until the light is low and the whole pane hazes. Because we clean with deionized water and no soap at all, the water we use is chemically hungry: it dissolves the deposit rather than smearing it, then dries without leaving a residue for the next cycle to stick to.

Why Hacienda Glass Looks Clean and Still Hazes

Two decades of sprinkler cycles have left most Hacienda panes with a mineral history rather than mineral dirt. The distinction matters because only one of them comes off. A deposit that has bonded but not yet etched responds to a dedicated dissolver and mechanical work; glass that has been etched has lost surface, and no product restores it. We check before quoting rather than after, and where a pane is gone we say so. Taking money to polish a window that cannot improve is not a service.

The RainShield Finish

Traditional window cleaning puts soap on glass and then tries to remove all of it. What stays behind is invisible on the day and obvious a fortnight later, because it is tacky and it collects. Deionized water skips the problem entirely: no surfactant goes on, so none is left. The practical result on a Meridian home is a longer interval between cleanings, and no streaking in the raking light that shows up every other method.

The Other Half of the Problem

Irrigation mineral is the half people notice. The other half is north Meridian's open-ground wind fetch, which still carries construction and field dust off the sections that have not been built yet. Dust on its own rinses off. Dust that lands on a pane still damp from a sprinkler cycle does not — it beds into the mineral film and cements there, which is the real reason Meridian glass goes from clean to visibly dirty faster than people expect. Soap makes it worse: surfactant residue left in the corners is tacky and collects the next round. We introduce no soap, so there is nothing left to catch it.

How Often Hacienda Actually Needs It

Twice a year suits most homes here — once after the spring pollen and dust, once at the end of the irrigation season when the mineral load is at its highest. Homes with glass directly in a sprinkler pattern want the more frequent end of that until the heads get adjusted. Homes whose glass is shielded can often go annually. We are not going to sell you a quarterly plan you do not need.

How We Quote It

Pane count drives the number, not house size — a small home with forty divided lites takes longer than a large one with twelve big panes. That is why we quote off what is actually there. Exterior starts at $199, gutters at $199, house washing runs $0.18 a square foot and pressure washing $0.20, and hard water work is per affected pane once we have tested. Nothing is on contract.
