Why Movado Glass Spots the Way It Does

The single thing that separates a Movado window from the same window in a city without pressurized irrigation is what comes out of the sprinkler. the Boise Project Board of Control supplies it here, and what it delivers is untreated canal water — silt in suspension, calcium and magnesium in solution. On glass, the water sheets, evaporates fast in the valley's dry air, and leaves both behind. The silt you can feel. The mineral you cannot, until the light is low and the whole pane hazes. Because we clean with deionized water and no soap at all, the water we use is chemically hungry: it dissolves the deposit rather than smearing it, then dries without leaving a residue for the next cycle to stick to.

New Glass Has Its Own Problems

Because Movado is new ground, the first cleaning is not a maintenance clean — it is a construction clean, and it should be priced and scheduled as one. Masonry fines, stucco splatter and drywall dust all bond harder the longer they sit through irrigation cycles, so the worst thing to do is wait. We work adhesive and residue off with dwell time rather than force, test any blade on a corner first, and treat tempered glass as the scratch risk it is. If your builder's warranty is still live, we work in a way that gives nobody an excuse to void it.

The Parts That Are Not the Glass

Exterior service covers the glass, the frame and the exterior sill. Tracks are where irrigation silt actually accumulates — it washes down the pane, settles in the bottom track and sets up like thin grout over a season. We clear that rather than cleaning the glass above it and leaving the track packed. Screens hold the same silt in the mesh, which is why a freshly cleaned window behind a dirty screen still reads grey from inside. We stay off the seal line with anything high-pressure or metal.

Winter, Inversions and Interior Condensation

The valley inversion holds particulate at ground level for weeks at a time, and it settles on glass as a fine grey film that is not dirt in the ordinary sense. Exterior cleaning still works in winter — pure water does not freeze on the pane at the temperatures we work in, and we simply do not book when it is genuinely too cold. Interior condensation is a separate matter: that is indoor humidity meeting cold glass, and no cleaning changes it. Ventilation does.

If It Still Looks Hazy, Check the Screen

A screen is a filter, and it has been doing its job all summer. Canal silt dries in the weave and greys the whole view, so a perfectly clean pane behind a loaded screen still looks dirty. We would rather you added screens to the booking than paid for a window clean and felt it had not worked.

Where We Are Not the Right Call

Some jobs are not ours. Anything above three stories needs a rope-access specialist. Failed seals, broken glass and rotten frames need a glazier, not a cleaner. Etched glass needs replacing. We would rather point you at the right trade than take the booking and under-deliver, and we say that plainly because the alternative is a customer who is disappointed by something we knew in advance.
