The grit that comes off it on an afternoon wind is sharp and mica-flecked, and it lands on the view glass that is the entire reason these houses are oriented the way they are. That grit scratches if it is wiped dry. Flooding the pane with pure deionized water before contact is not a nicety here — it is the difference between clean view glass and view glass with hairlines in it.
The grit that reaches these windows comes off decomposed-granite ground rather than cropland, so it is sharp and mica-flecked instead of soft and powdery. Loess smears under a wet squeegee; this behaves like very light sandpaper and scores glass if anyone wipes it dry or scrubs it with a rag. Every pane gets flooded with 100% pure deionized water before anything makes contact, so the abrasive is floating rather than grinding. Because the water has nothing dissolved in it, there is no mineral left behind to dry into a spot and nothing for the next windy afternoon's grit to bond to — that is what the RainShield finish actually is.

If the haze is on the glass, yes, and dramatically. If it is summer wildfire smoke in the air, no cleaning touches that and we will say so. The tell is whether the haze is there on a clear morning after rain — if it is, that is mineral or grit film on the pane, which comes off.
