What Pressurized Irrigation Leaves on Vicenza Glass

The single thing that separates a Vicenza window from the same window in a city without pressurized irrigation is what comes out of the sprinkler. Settlers Irrigation District supplies it here, and what it delivers is untreated canal water — silt in suspension, calcium and magnesium in solution. On glass, the water sheets, evaporates fast in the valley's dry air, and leaves both behind. The silt you can feel. The mineral you cannot, until the light is low and the whole pane hazes. Because we clean with deionized water and no soap at all, the water we use is chemically hungry: it dissolves the deposit rather than smearing it, then dries without leaving a residue for the next cycle to stick to.

New Glass Has Its Own Problems

Vicenza is still filling in, and glass on an active build site carries what a finished neighborhood never sees: concrete and mortar splatter, stucco slurry, drywall compound dust and cut-masonry fines. Those are alkaline and mildly abrasive, which is the worst combination there is — wiping them with a soapy cloth grinds them across the pane and leaves fine scratching no later cleaning removes. There is usually label adhesive in the corners too. We soften and lift residue rather than scraping dry glass, and we check for tempered stamps before any blade goes near a pane, because tempered surfaces mark in ways annealed glass does not.

How We Quote It

Pane count drives the number, not house size — a small home with forty divided lites takes longer than a large one with twelve big panes. That is why we quote off what is actually there. Exterior starts at $199, gutters at $199, house washing runs $0.18 a square foot and pressure washing $0.20, and hard water work is per affected pane once we have tested. Nothing is on contract.

If It Still Looks Hazy, Check the Screen

The most common call we get after a cleaning is that the windows still look grey from inside. Nine times out of ten the glass is fine and the screen in front of it is carrying a season of irrigation silt in the weave. Mesh is rough and holds far more than smooth glass does. Screen cleaning is a $50 add-on alongside a window service for that reason — pulled, washed flat, dried and reseated in the same openings.

Reaching the Upper Glass in Vicenza

Homes here carry the tall glass packages that came in with modern Meridian floor plans — two-story great-room windows, stairwell glass and wide sliders, usually concentrated on the back elevation where no step ladder reaches. Water-fed poles do most of it. The advantage is not only safety — rinsing at height with deionized water means the top of the pane gets the same treatment as the bottom, which is not true of a squeegee reached out at arm's length from a ladder. Dust on its own rinses off. Dust that lands on a pane still damp from a sprinkler cycle does not — it beds into the mineral film and cements there, which is the real reason Meridian glass goes from clean to visibly dirty faster than people expect. Soap makes it worse: surfactant residue left in the corners is tacky and collects the next round. We introduce no soap, so there is nothing left to catch it.
