The water coming out of a Falcon Crest sprinkler head is not the softened water inside your house. It's raw district surface water, and it carries dissolved calcium and silica straight out of the canal system. When that mist hits a hot south or west pane in July, the water flashes off in under a minute and leaves every mineral it was carrying welded to the surface. Do that twice a day for a summer and the deposit stops being something you can wipe off — it starts bonding into the top layer of the glass itself. Mineral is sitting on top of the surface and comes off. In Kuna's twenty-year-old subdivisions, where risers have been clipped by mowers and nozzles have drifted off their original aim for two decades, we're often looking at pitting that no chemical will fix. The turf your dues cover and the turf the golf club maintains are not on your controller, and nobody adjusting either one is thinking about your windows. Common-area strips and course fairways get commercial heads on long run times, usually in the pre-dawn hours, and there is no homeowner-side fix for a head across a property line except asking the HOA or the club to adjust it. Your own system you can fix in an afternoon: swap the offending rotor for a nozzle with a tighter arc, drop the riser, or shift the run time so the glass gets rinsed by cool morning air instead of baked at two in the afternoon. Do the fingernail test on dry glass. Flat and smooth means surface deposit, and it comes off completely. Rough or textured means the mineral has etched into the surface, and while we can strip the deposit, the pitting stays. Most Falcon Crest homes are new enough to be in the first category. We check every pane before quoting and tell you which ones will not fully clear.
Sprinkler aim, almost every time. One rotor set six inches too high or ten degrees too far right will hammer a single elevation for years while an identical house next door never gets touched. Lot orientation matters too — a west-facing pane bakes the mineral on in minutes, where the same water on a north wall runs off. It has nothing to do with the house and everything to do with the head.
Before, if you can. Restoring the glass and then spraying it again all summer means you're paying twice. Adjusting the nozzle arc, lowering the riser, or moving your run time to early morning are all cheap fixes.
