The install date of the irrigation matters more here than anything else on this page. A sprinkler system stays roughly where the installer set it for the first couple of seasons. Two different problems look identical from the driveway. Surface scale sits on top of the glass — it lifts with a proper mineral treatment and the window finishes clear. Etching is not the same thing. The minerals have chemically bitten into the silica, and there is no cleaner, no soap and no amount of pressure that brings that back. Etched glass has to be mechanically polished, and on severely etched panes replacement is the cheaper honest answer.
