Why Skybreak Has a Hard Water Problem Specifically

Worth knowing first: Skybreak is new ground: recorded 2023–2027 across 4 phases, with homes still going up (ZIP 83642, about 65 acres). This is the service Meridian needs more than any other city we work, and pressurized irrigation is the reason. The Boise Project Board of Control supplies the pressurized irrigation on these lots. That is untreated canal water, and it is carrying both suspended silt and dissolved calcium and magnesium. When a sprinkler head throws onto a window, the water sheets, evaporates in the dry valley air, and leaves the mineral behind as a ring. The next cycle lands on top of it. Over a season that becomes a bonded scale; over a few years it becomes etching, where the mineral has eaten microscopic pits into the silica and is now sitting inside them. The city's own culinary supply is hard as well — City of Meridian culinary water, which the city puts at about seven grains per gallon — so hose-rinsing does not help either. Deposit or Damage — We Test Before We Quote

These are two different conditions and only one of them is fixable. Bonded deposit sits on top of the glass and comes off with the right acid and mechanical work. Etching is a change to the glass itself and no product removes it. You can tell them apart at home: wet the pane and look. If the haze vanishes where it is wet and reappears as it dries, it is deposit. If it stays visible while wet, it is etched. We test a single pane on site before quoting the job, show you the cleared square next to the untouched glass, and tell you plainly which panes will come back and which will not. We would rather lose the job than take money for glass that cannot be saved. On Skybreak's newer builds the warranty paperwork usually still matters, so we work in a way that will not give anyone a reason to void it.

Keeping It From Coming Straight Back

Restoration without changing the cause buys you one season. The real fix in Skybreak is sprinkler aim. We will walk the heads with you and show you which ones are clipping glass — most of the time it is two or three heads doing nearly all the damage, and a quarter turn on each solves it. Beyond that, cleaning with pure water rather than soap matters, because soap film is tacky and gives the next mineral cycle something to hold onto. Where glass sits directly in an unavoidable spray pattern, a sacrificial sealant is worth discussing — it does not last forever and we will not pretend it does. Doing It on One Visit

Most Skybreak customers book this alongside a full window clean. Partly that is price — one visit rather than two — and partly it is sequence. Washing walls after cleaning glass puts dirty water back on clean panes, and hanging lights before clearing gutters means working around your own strands in January. Where We Stop

We cannot remove etching — that is lost glass, not a deposit, and no product restores it. We test a pane before quoting so you know which you have.
