Most of Nampa's light-install work is 2000s single-story ranch — one straight eave, one gable, done in an hour. Bayhill is different. The two-story stock here carries a steep front gable over the entry, usually a second gable over the great-room window wall facing the ponds, and a set of valleys and returns where those planes meet. Peaks on the larger two-stories run in the 22-to-28-foot range, which is a different ladder plan and a different pitch to work on than a 12-foot single-story eave. There are single-story homes on some of the pond-side lots too, and those are quick. The point is we walk the house and count actual roofline before we quote, because on a Bayhill two-story the difference between outlining the main eaves and outlining every gable, dormer and return is a real difference in price. You get to choose which lines get lit.
Install has to happen before the roof ices over, and Bayhill hits that date sooner than a Meridian or Boise job does. The community sits low around its ponds and stream corridor with Lake Lowell and the Deer Flat flats just southwest, and on a still fall night cold air drains and pools in exactly that kind of low, water-adjacent ground. Frost sets on north-facing shingle here while houses on higher ground across the valley are still dry. Once a pitch has frost on it, walking it is not a judgment call — we come off. That is why we book Bayhill in October through early November rather than the first week of December. If you wait until after Thanksgiving on a two-story with a steep front gable, there is a real chance the only safe answer that week is to reschedule.
Every strand goes on with clips sized to where it sits: shingle-tab clips along the ridge and rake, gutter-lip clips on the eave runs. Nothing gets stapled or nailed into shingle or fascia. Staples put a hole in the roofing layer that is still there in July, and a nail in fascia rots from the head out. Here is a check anybody can do from a ladder before hiring anyone: put a hand under the front lip of the gutter and pull gently. If it flexes away from the fascia or you see daylight at the back, that gutter will not hold a loaded C9 run through a wet snow, and clipping lights to it makes the sag worse. On the 1998-era homes here we do find spikes backing out of fascia. When we see it, we say so and hang that section off the shingle line instead, or hold off until the gutter is refastened.
Bayhill is gated, so access gets arranged before the install date — a gate code, a resident-issued remote, or the HOA's vendor process if the board runs one. That is settled ahead of time, not at the call box on the morning of a cold install day. On rules: if your association has anything in writing about bulb color, when lights may go up, when they have to come down, or how they can be attached, send it to us and we install to it. We do not guess at HOA language and we do not tell homeowners what their own CC&Rs say. In practice that usually means a takedown date on the calendar in January, which is already how we schedule — takedown is part of the job, not a second call you have to make.

Send us whatever the board has in writing and we install to it. We do not interpret your CC&Rs for you or assume what a gated community allows.
