Parapet and cornice lines, not gables

Around the plaza you get two kinds of buildings on the same block: historic brick storefronts carrying original transom windows and upper-story sash, and newer construction with modern storefront systems and bigger fixed panes. Neither one has the eave-and-gable roofline a subdivision light job is built around. What reads from across the plaza is a straight, evenly spaced C9 line along the parapet or cornice — the top edge of the building — and that's what we hang: commercial-grade C9 or mini LED strands, cut to the actual length of your building face rather than looped and doubled back at the corner because a boxed strand came up short. We look at the building before we quote it, for the same reason every downtown job gets looked at first: a one-story brick storefront and a two-story building with occupied apartments upstairs are different jobs even when they share a wall.

Clips only — and the honest limit on old brick

Nothing we install gets stapled, nailed, screwed, or glued to a building — on a house that means plastic clips on the gutter lip and shingle edge, and downtown it means we attach where there's an edge a clip can actually grip: a gutter or drip edge, a metal parapet cap, a defined ledge. What we won't do is drill or pin anything into century-old brick or wood cornice trim, because that's permanent damage to a building that predates all of us. The honest consequence is that some downtown facades support a full roofline run and some only support a partial one, and a few don't give a clip anything to hold at all. We tell you which category your building is in at the quote, standing on the sidewalk looking at it — not on install day after you've already planned around it.

Before open, after close, and before the plaza season

Downtown light work runs on shop hours the same way our window routes here do: before open or after close, so nobody's ladder is blocking your entry while customers are walking in. Winter foot traffic around the plaza means your building face gets looked at up close, at eye level, all season long — which is an argument for getting the line up early and straight rather than rushing it in December. Book in October or the first week of November and the lights are up well before Thanksgiving; they sit dark until you're ready to run them. Our install routes fill by mid-November, and while we keep installing through December for late deciders, the before-open and after-close windows downtown get harder to schedule the deeper into the season we go. Our lights, not the strands in your storage room

Every install uses lights we supply: commercial-grade C9 or mini LED strands, custom-cut to your building. We don't hang customer-owned or store-bought lights, and the reason is practical, not snobbery — old boxed strands give up sections, usually in late December, and a half-dark parapet line over an open storefront looks worse than no lights at all. Because the strands are ours and we cut them, we also stand behind them: if a section goes dark in the middle of the season, call and we come fix it at no charge. That's part of the job, not a service call you pay for. One more honest note — we hang steady roofline and parapet runs in the color you pick. We don't do animated or music-synced displays, so if that's what you're after, we're not the right call.

What the quote includes

The quote is free, and it's quoted per roofline after we've actually seen the building — for a downtown property that means per building face, measured, not a flat rate guessed off square footage. That one number covers the lights themselves, the install, mid-season repairs if anything goes dark, takedown in January, and storage of your cut sets through the off-season, where they get inspected before they go back up next year. No untangling, no bin in the back room, and year two goes up faster because the lengths are already cut to your building.
