Why Sunnyvale Screens Grey Out

Screen mesh is a filter, and here it filters irrigation. Silt carried in sprinkler overspray dries in the weave, and because the mesh is rough it holds far more of it than the glass does. Add Canyon County field dust — spring disking, the summer hay and mint cuttings, and the fall onion, sugar-beet and silage harvest, carried on the west wind off the Snake River plain and pollen and within a season the screen carries a grey load you can see through a freshly cleaned window.
