What Soiling Costs a Silverleaf Array

The thing that shapes this job most is that Silverleaf is platted 2005–2007 across 4 phases — mature landscaping, original windows on most homes (ZIP 83646, about 48 acres). A solar panel is a piece of glass mounted at a shallow angle with nothing above it, which makes it the best dust collector on the property. In Meridian it catches north Meridian's open-ground wind fetch, which still carries construction and field dust off the sections that have not been built yet, and then — the part people do not expect — it catches pressurized irrigation overspray. Canal water on a warm panel evaporates fast and leaves exactly the bonded mineral film it leaves on windows, except here it sits directly in the light path. Soiling losses on a neglected valley array are not trivial, and the panels at the low edge of the array, where runoff concentrates, are usually the worst. Across roughly 48 acres it is remarkably consistent — Silverleaf is one job, not thirty different ones.

Deionized Water, No Soap, No Abrasives

Panels get the same pure-water method as glass, and for a better reason. Soap residue on a panel is a soiling magnet — it attracts and holds the next layer of dust, so a soaped panel gets dirty faster than one that was never cleaned. Deionized water dissolves the mineral and dries clean with nothing left behind. We never use abrasives or anything that could mar the anti-reflective coating, which is a thin functional layer and not something you can scrub without cost. It is the single most common thing we get called about in Silverleaf.

Roof Access and the Things We Will Not Do

We clean from the ground with water-fed poles wherever the roof pitch and array position allow it, which keeps weight off the panels and off your roof. We do not walk on panels — micro-cracking from foot traffic is invisible and permanent. We do not touch wiring, inverters, optimizers or mounting hardware; if we see something that looks wrong we photograph it and tell you to call your installer. Arrays we cannot reach safely we will decline rather than improvise. If you are on W Glade Creek Dr or one of the streets off it, we are likely already working nearby.

What This Service Does Not Cover

We clean the glass. We do not touch wiring, inverters, optimisers or mounting hardware, we never walk on panels, and we will decline an array we cannot reach safely rather than improvise. We are locally owned and fully insured, and we would rather point you to the right trade than take work we cannot finish well.

Silverleaf is on our regular Meridian route, not a special trip. We already work N Silver Elm Way, W Tango Creek Dr and W Glade Creek Dr inside the subdivision. It routes off Chinden, which is how we keep travel out of the price. We schedule by area rather than by first-come, which keeps drive time down and means we can hold prices where they are. It also means there is usually a crew working within a few streets of you most weeks of the season.
