Soap is a residue. It cleans well in the moment and then leaves a film that attracts dust, which is the real reason soap-cleaned windows look dull again within weeks. Reflekt runs 100% pure deionized water instead. Deionized water has had its dissolved minerals stripped out, which makes it aggressive at picking up dirt and, more usefully, makes it dry without leaving anything behind. There is no squeegee streak because there is nothing in the water to streak.
Treasure Valley tap water is hard. Cleaning glass with it means laying minerals onto the pane and then wiping them around, which is why a rinse with a garden hose leaves spots as it dries. Deionized water does the opposite: because the minerals have been removed, it actively pulls dissolved solids off the surface as it runs. The glass is rinsed rather than wiped dry, and what evaporates is pure water leaving bare glass.
Once glass is genuinely free of soap film and mineral deposit, water sheets off it rather than beading and drying in place. Reflekt calls that result RainShield. It is not a coating that gets applied and it is not a sealant with an expiry date, it is what clean glass does on its own. The practical effect is that the next rain runs off instead of spotting, which is the same reason the 7-Day Rain Guarantee is a reasonable thing to offer rather than a gamble.
Pure water will not remove hard water staining that has already etched into glass. Sprinkler overspray that has been baking onto a window for several seasons is a mineral deposit bonded to the surface, and at a certain depth it has physically pitted the glass. That is a separate service, quoted by severity and included on the Monthly membership, and it is worth being honest that severe cases can be improved rather than made new. Any company promising to make deeply etched glass look factory-fresh is overselling.
