Ask anyone in Caldwell why their windows spot and the honest answer is the sprinklers. the Caldwell Municipal Irrigation District, with storage held by Pioneer Irrigation District supplies untreated canal water to the irrigation line, and it is carrying both silt and dissolved mineral. On glass that dries into a ring you can see in low sun and feel with a fingernail. The culinary side does not help either — Caldwell's groundwater supply, which is hard enough that most households here see scale on fixtures long before they notice it on glass — so rinsing with a hose adds mineral rather than removing it.
