Why Settlement Bridge Has a Hard Water Problem Specifically

Over a season that becomes a bonded scale; over a decade or more it becomes etching, where the mineral has eaten microscopic pits into the silica and is now sitting inside them. The city's own culinary supply is hard as well — City of Meridian culinary water, which the city puts at about seven grains per gallon — so hose-rinsing does not help either. How the Restoration Actually Works

It is not a harder scrub. We use a dedicated mineral dissolver matched to the deposit, held in contact long enough to break the bond, then work it with a non-abrasive pad and neutralize before rinsing. Frames, seals and any adjacent stone or stucco get masked, because the products that cut mineral will also etch an aluminum frame and burn a seal. For heavy cases we step up to a fine cerium polish, which is genuinely slow work and priced accordingly. Keeping It From Coming Straight Back

Restoration without changing the cause buys you one season. The real fix in Settlement Bridge is sprinkler aim. We will walk the heads with you and show you which ones are clipping glass — most of the time it is two or three heads doing nearly all the damage, and a quarter turn on each solves it. Beyond that, cleaning with pure water rather than soap matters, because soap film is tacky and gives the next mineral cycle something to hold onto. Where glass sits directly in an unavoidable spray pattern, a sacrificial sealant is worth discussing — it does not last forever and we will not pretend it does.
