That mix matters because the three materials fail differently: vinyl chalks, stucco holds mineral inside its texture, and cedar goes gray and grabs algae along the grain. It can. Vinyl lap from that era is thinner than today's product and has gone brittle from thirty summers of sun. High pressure drives water up behind the laps into the sheathing and can crack panels outright at the nail hem. We soft-wash instead, using cleaning solution and low pressure so the chemistry lifts the dirt. Same result on the wall, no water behind it.
Because the source is still running. That band is mineral and silt from ditch irrigation water hitting the wall directly, so as long as a sprinkler head is spraying the house it will rebuild every season. We can clean it off, but the permanent fix is fifteen minutes with a screwdriver adjusting or relocating that head. Do that first and the wash holds all year instead of a few months.

Yes, and stucco is exactly why we do not use high pressure. Stucco is a porous cement finish and a pressure tip held close will blow out the sand texture and leave a permanent bright patch you cannot blend back. Soft-wash lets the solution sit in the texture and release the dirt. Be aware that deep mineral staining inside the stucco lightens substantially but may not disappear completely.
Cedar gets treated gentler than everything else on the house. Wood that has gone gray is UV-weathered on the surface, and algae and mildew sit in the grain. Soft-washing cleans the growth out and brightens it, but it does not restore the original color of wood that has never been sealed. If your cedar is bare and gray, plan on a stain or sealer after washing while it is clean and dry.
Most houses here do well on a once-a-year wash, timed for late spring after cottonwood drop off the greenbelt. Homes with heavy shade on the pond or river side, or with sprinklers hitting the wall, often need the affected elevations refreshed sooner.
