Why Spurwing Challenge Screens Grey Out

Start with the build stage — Spurwing Challenge is a build-out of the late 2000s and 2010s, platted 2013–2014 on one plat (ZIP 83646, about 60 acres). Screen mesh is a filter, and in Meridian it filters irrigation. Canal silt carried in sprinkler overspray dries in the weave, and because the mesh is rough it holds far more of it than the glass does. Add north Meridian's open-ground wind fetch, which still carries construction and field dust off the sections that have not been built yet and pollen, and within a season the screen is carrying a grey load you can see through a freshly cleaned window. That is the complaint we hear most: 'you cleaned the glass but it still looks hazy.' It is almost always the screen. We see it most consistently on the homes along N Long Lake Way.

Pulled, Washed Flat, Reseated

Scrubbing a screen in its opening pushes the silt deeper into the weave and flexes the frame. We pull each one, wash it flat on a padded surface so the mesh is supported, rinse it through from both sides, let it dry and reseat it in the same opening it came out of. Screens are not interchangeable — a frame that has sat in one opening for fifteen years has taken that opening's shape, and swapping them is how you end up with gaps. On Spurwing Challenge's newer builds the warranty paperwork usually still matters, so we work in a way that will not give anyone a reason to void it.

What We Find and Tell You About

On newer builds the common finds are mesh that was never seated properly in the spline channel, and builder-grade frames that racked out of square during installation. Both are cheap to fix and we will point them out. We do not charge for a screen we cannot clean. At about 60 acres, Spurwing Challenge is small enough that neighbours booking together is genuinely cheaper for everyone.

Serving Spurwing Challenge and the Streets Around It

Spurwing Challenge is on our regular Meridian route, not a special trip. We already work N Long Lake Way and N Spurwing Ln inside the subdivision. It routes off Chinden, which is how we keep travel out of the price. We schedule by area rather than by first-come, which keeps drive time down and means we can hold prices where they are. It also means there is usually a crew working within a few streets of you most weeks of the season.

The Honest Limits

We clean and reseat screens. We do not re-mesh or re-frame them. Where a screen is too brittle to survive being pulled we will show you before we touch it, and we do not charge for a screen we cannot clean. We are locally owned and fully insured, and we would rather point you to the right trade than take work we cannot finish well.
