Shading Is Usually the Real Problem Here

Under mature elm and silver maple canopy, the dominant threat to an Old Town array is shade rather than soiling. Old Roofs, Retrofit Arrays, and Honest Reporting

Any solar in Old Town is a retrofit onto housing stock from the 1900s through 1950s, and that raises real questions about roof condition and structure beneath the array.
