That's fine alkaline field silt, not the coarser foothills grit other parts of the valley deal with, and it bonds to glass fast once irrigation season adds moisture to the air. Homes on the west-facing elevations here pick up a visible film within a couple weeks of a cleaning during spring tillage and fall harvest — faster than the same house would film up on the north side of town.
Pradera lots run large by Caldwell standards, and a good share of the homes carry a third or fourth bay built out as an RV garage, which usually means extra glass on that elevation plus a longer stretch of driveway or gravel side-yard we're working around to get the truck and hose reel close enough. Larger lots also mean more total window count per house than the older, tighter grid downtown — more panes, more time, but also more room for us to stage equipment without blocking a driveway or squeezing past parked vehicles.
