Holiday Light Installation in Star River Ranch, Star, Idaho

Star River Ranch sits on acreage lots along the Boise River and its community lakes about two miles west of town, where river-bottom cottonwood and heavy overnight dew define the conditions. Acreage homes built to face the water, which means the best elevation often is not the one on the street.

Acreage homes with multi-story water-facing walls

Lots here run bigger than the production subdivisions closer to State Street, and the homes were built to match — taller entry glass, multi-story window walls facing the river or the lake, and wraparound decks. That puts the most interesting roofline on the water side on a lot of these properties. A front elevation is typically four or five measured sections; adding the water side is a real second job rather than a small addition, so we quote them as separate lines. Long private drives also mean the truck parks farther from the house and equipment lines run longer, which is time worth accounting for honestly rather than absorbing into a flat rate.

Heavy dew and June cottonwood on the water side

Sitting on the river and its community lakes puts Star River Ranch in a heavier overnight-dew band than the rest of town. The Boise River corridor through Star runs thick with mature cottonwoods and willows, and this neighborhood sits right in that seed drop every June — fluff mats into screens and gutter troughs on lake and river-facing elevations far worse than on the tree-sparse subdivisions inland. For lighting, that means the water-side troughs carry a heavier load and the connections on that elevation sit damp more often, which is one more reason for properly seated commercial-grade strand rather than a store set with a taped joint.

Clips only, and a cut list made for your elevation

Every attachment point is a plastic clip — no staples, no nails, nothing driven into stone, stucco or fascia. On a home this size the bigger issue is the cut list: hips, dormers, gable returns and porch columns each need their own measured length of commercial-grade strand, and an installer working off stretched store strings ends up with uneven spacing on exactly the elevation you bought the house for. We measure each run, cut to it, and label the set so year two goes on faster than year one. Wind exposure out here is the other reason stretched strands fail — a properly seated clip on a cut-to-length run is what survives a January blow.

What is included, and how to phase a big elevation

Every quote covers the strands themselves — commercial-grade, cut to your roofline — install, mid-season fixes, January takedown and off-season storage. On a property this size the useful advice is about scope, not price: light the entry gable and the main street-facing lines first, because that is what reads from the road, and add trees, courtyard runs or the back elevation in a later season. Since we store your custom-cut set between seasons, adding on never means starting the measuring over. The honest limit is that we do not do animated or music-synced shows — rooflines, peaks, columns and trees done cleanly is the job we are set up to do well.

Booking a larger install, and January takedown

Larger elevations take longer to measure, cut and hang, so October is the right call rather than a nice idea — routes fill by mid-November and the bigger jobs need the daylight. Installs run through December for late deciders. Takedown is in January and included, along with off-season storage: on a property this size that is the part owners underestimate most, and it is already in the quote. Anything that goes dark between now and then is a call to (208) 453-6760 and a no-charge fix.

Holiday Light Installation in Star River Ranch — Questions

Still wondering about something? Call or text us at (208) 453-6760.

Is the water-facing side worth lighting?

It is what you look at, and on many of these homes it carries the more dramatic roofline. It is also a genuine second elevation rather than a small add-on, so we price it separately and let you decide. Starting with the street side and adding the water side next season is a normal plan here.

We are on a long private drive. What does that change?

Mostly where the truck parks and how far equipment lines run, which we plan for at the quote. If there is a gate code or a dog, tell us at booking — for the install and for the January takedown, so neither one turns into a phone call from your driveway.

Do you supply the lights, or do I use my own?

We supply them. Every install uses commercial-grade C9 or mini LED strands custom-cut to your roofline. We do not hang store-bought strands — a roof in December is the wrong place to find out a four-year-old set has a dead section, and supplying the lights ourselves is what lets us include mid-season fixes in the quote.

Will the clips damage my gutters, shingles or fascia?

No. Every attachment point is a plastic clip matched to what you actually have — gutter lip, shingle edge or ridge. Nothing is stapled, nailed, screwed or glued. When the lights come down in January there is no evidence they were ever up, which is the whole standard.

A section went dark in the middle of December. Now what?

Call or text (208) 453-6760 and we come fix it at no charge. That is part of the job, not a separate service call. Commercial-grade strands fail far less than store strings, but wind, squirrels and one crushed bulb still happen — you should not spend a Saturday diagnosing it on a ladder.

What happens in January?

We come back, take everything down, and store your set through the off-season, where it gets inspected and repaired before next year. No bins in the garage, no untangling next November, and no second invoice — takedown and storage are already in the quote.
