Why Southern Highlands Screens Grey Out

Worth knowing first: Southern Highlands is still filling in — the plats recorded 2014–2019, across 4 phases (ZIP 83642, about 79 acres). Screen mesh is a filter, and in Meridian it filters irrigation. Canal silt carried in sprinkler overspray dries in the weave, and because the mesh is rough it holds far more of it than the glass does. Add the working farm ground still south of Amity, which puts field dust on this glass through every spring disking and every fall silage run and pollen, and within a season the screen is carrying a grey load you can see through a freshly cleaned window. That is the complaint we hear most: 'you cleaned the glass but it still looks hazy.' It is almost always the screen. Across roughly 79 acres it is remarkably consistent — Southern Highlands is one job, not thirty different ones.

Pulled, Washed Flat, Reseated

Scrubbing a screen in its opening pushes the silt deeper into the weave and flexes the frame. We pull each one, wash it flat on a padded surface so the mesh is supported, rinse it through from both sides, let it dry and reseat it in the same opening it came out of. Screens are not interchangeable — a frame that has sat in one opening for fifteen years has taken that opening's shape, and swapping them is how you end up with gaps. Being this close to Amity means the road-facing elevation is always the one that needs the most attention.

Southern Highlands is on our regular Meridian route, not a special trip. We already work S Bow Canyon Way, E Mores Trail Dr, E Lodge Trail Dr and E Lodge Trail Ct inside the subdivision. It routes off Amity, which is how we keep travel out of the price. We schedule by area rather than by first-come, which keeps drive time down and means we can hold prices where they are. It also means there is usually a crew working within a few streets of you most weeks of the season.

What It Pairs With

Most Southern Highlands customers book this alongside a window service. Partly that is price — one visit rather than two — and partly it is sequence. Washing walls after cleaning glass puts dirty water back on clean panes, and hanging lights before clearing gutters means working around your own strands in January.
