Insect Splatter and Spider Staining

Why it concentrates in the same places

Insects gather where light and shelter are, so residue builds around exterior lights, under eaves, in corners out of the wind, and around door frames. Those spots stain year after year because the conditions that attract insects have not changed, not because the last cleaning failed.

Spider droppings are the persistent kind

The small dark specks in clusters under eaves are spider droppings, and they bond tightly to painted and textured surfaces. They resist rinsing and often need dwell time with an appropriate cleaner. On textured stucco they lodge in the profile and are the hardest of the group to remove fully.

Heat is what makes it permanent

Fresh splatter comes off readily. The same residue baked onto a south or west elevation through August has had weeks of heat driving its acids into the finish, and at that point removal reveals a dulled or lightly etched patch underneath. Timing matters more than product.

Reducing it changes the outcome

Switching exterior lighting to warmer colour temperatures attracts markedly fewer insects, which reduces both the splatter and the spiders that follow them. Combined with clearing webs and residue on a regular cycle, that does more than any one-off deep clean.
