Why eaves specifically

Eaves are sheltered from rain and wind, they are warm, and exterior lighting near them concentrates flying insects at night. That combination is close to ideal for web-building spiders. The same conditions that make eaves work as architecture make them work as habitat.

What removal actually accomplishes

Clearing webs, egg sacs and accumulated debris removes the current population and the next generation waiting in the sacs, and it stops the staining that builds under an established web. That is genuinely worth doing, and the property looks markedly better. What it does not do is change the habitat, so recolonisation is a matter of time rather than a possibility.

Wasp and hornet nests are a different matter

An active nest is a safety issue rather than a cleaning task. Crews will not knock down an active wasp or hornet nest as part of a wash, because doing so on a ladder is how people get badly hurt. It needs treating first, then the remains can be cleared.

What genuinely reduces recurrence

Changing exterior lighting to fixtures that attract fewer insects, and keeping the eave line clear of the debris that supports the food chain, both reduce pressure. Regular scheduled removal is the realistic answer for most homes, which is what a Monthly or Quarterly membership is for.
